Basic Kitchen Equipment

Indian and Pakistani cooking demands a wide range of pots and pans which is not used in any other genre of cooking. The most commonly used are:


Degchi, Pateela, Handi and Deg - All are Pots in different sizes and shapes but not with very thin bottoms.


Kadhai is a deep frying pan similar to a Chinese Wok.


Chimta is a tong.

Belan is a rooling pin and Patla is the wooden platform to roll chapattis, parathas, puris etc.


Masala Dani is the spice box which contains dry spices.
